Rivers

The freezing water

Dark and deep

It twists and turns

Writhes gloomily

Whirling downwards

A spinning death trap

For small animals near by

It hunts hungrily down

It’s predetermined path

Deadly, alluring

Dark and twisted

The water waits

For its next victim

Rivers

The water bubbles

Quickly and gaily

Speeding down its path.

Dancing around rocks

Nothing can get in its way

It will come to its resting point

A pond that is sure to come

No obstacle is too much

Too big, too high

It flows happily

Playfully

Nudging pebbles

In its bed
