Life's Bud, Life's Cry

How long will it be before you hold eternity

Within your hands; Life's bud in your palm.

How many lies will you have to endure

Before you come to reality,

A gift given by the Powers above.

Deceit rides your heart like a song

Holding you captive within the voices of your mind.

Complexity wavers in your thoughts;

Simple mindedness holding fast to the world

You thought you knew.

“It's this way,” you say, but do you really know?

Can your mind understand the integral aspects

Of the life that depends upon you?

Backwards, forwards, up and down

Night and day, this merry-go-round.

Toil so hard your back breaks with labor,

But what use is it really in the end?

Gone when death takes you, pulling away everything.

Hush now, don't you cry.

It's not your fault, not at all this time.

All those thoughts you spoke of, the words

Of people and friends, stabbing them in the back.

Every part of your life that was your security,

Torn apart with this reality.

It's not your fault that you lied so many times,

Hurting all those that knew you and loved you.

It's a veil you held over your face, to protect;

You weren't as strong as they thought.

You knew that, didn't you?

But you had to do it yourself all the time,

Turning to the lies, deceit and hate.

How long before you see what you really are,

To the people that have known you, loved you?

What use is it to lie, to hurt, to hate?

What use is it to commit murder with those bloody hands?

What use is it to hind behind a mask that

Everyone hates; your real self hidden from the world?

Is it that hard, that degrading to someone so high up

In the world, that you can't ask for help?

It's not your strength that surprises you, its your hate,

The anger that runs through your veins.

Increasing pain, you can feel it, I can see it

In your eyes; it's the usual you know.

But you can't escape from this nightmare,

Can't run from the demons whispering in your ear.

Flame and smoke cloud your vision, your mind

Spinning with the ghosts of your past.

“Run, Forrest, run!” The voices are calling,

But you don't want to go do you?

It's seduction though, wrapping around you like

A blanket around a newborn baby boy.

Can you feel it? Can you feel the sorrow?

It hurts doesn't it, tearing apart your security.

So I have to ask you one more simple time.

How long will it be before you hold eternity

Within your hands; accepted with relief and peace?

I hear you sigh, whispers in your mind.

Let it go, it's no longer about your pride or strength.

This life depends upon you, so choose.
