A Mother’s Prayer
When I lay thee,
down to sleep,
I pray the Lord,
thy soul to keep.
For if ye shall die,
before you wake,
I pray the Lord,
thy soul to take.
And wrap you in,
His arms of love,
and cherish till,
the bitter day,
when all shall meet,
judgement pay,
for all those sins,
they did commit,
I pray the Lord,
thy soul to seek.
And let you sleep,
in the angels keep,
where you may rest,
in heavens peace.
So, when I lay thee,
down to sleep,
I pray the Lord,
thy soul to keep.
For if ye shall die,
before you wake,
I pray the Lord,
thy soul to take.
Amen.
