Liking Someone

Liking someone I cannot have,
and not for the usual reasons either.
His heart doesn’t rest in another’s hands;
his soul isn’t caged against love.
He doesn’t play for the ‘other team’.
He doesn’t ignore me.
I can’t have him simply because neither of us will try.
