Close my eyes,

And lay my mind to sleep,

Hold the truth and lies in each hand,

And pretend you can keep everything

Running towards the sun has blinded my weary eyes,

The ground punctured with spikes keeps on attaching themselves to my sides

The cold-slicing air penetrates what was scarred within,

It's all too close now, so where do I begin?

Unsettle the thrusts and the pains of the past,

I'll turn every corner but it catches up to me too fast

I'll open every book and turn every page,

But all of it comes clashing down with nowhere to escape

I won't yield to the memories that bring themselves into my mind,

I'll stand my ground -- Nothing will get past this time

As I swore to the darkened razor that lonely night,

I set forth a pact and a regret that was in plain sight,

I sought the pain and I grasped it with the purest passion I knew,

And throughout that night I turned into someone brand new

While she can say that it was all my fault,

She was the one who the grasped that hopeless heart and made it fall

Dedicated to: Jill Boyer and Joe -- May he rest in eternal peace. And to Jill.. may her journey's end be a happy one.
