Him
Darkness falls and all is as night,
You shiver and shake in your bed with fright.
You won’t close your eyes and you know that you can’t,
For as soon as you do, you know he’ll be back.
He’s worse than the screams and the thoughts in your head,
Even more than the monster that’s under your bed.
The thing in the closet holds not a flame,
To he who most often is cast with the blame.
Daylight breaks and your heart is at ease.
But only just long enough for you to breathe.
For you know he’ll be back, next night same time.
He’s always been there since you were a child.
He knows your secrets and deepest despairs,
For He, Sweet Darling, is all of your fears.
You’ll learn to face him, one day, it’s true
And then you’ll be sure to feel like a fool.
So hide beneath blankets, be ruled by your dread,
And one day you’ll realize,
He’s all in your head.
