(A/N: I just totally got dumped a week ago. What a terrible day. Luckily, it didn't ruin my five day trip to the festival.)

While You Slept

And the fireflies reminded me...
they reminded me like...

Ten thousand flickering angels in the field,
a threshold of fallen stars dances for an awed audience.
More than in the sky, they shine with power
they alone can wield.
I forge them as the night is long.
I forge for you a shield.

A book for you, written with my ink and quill,
born of memory that I confide within my gaping soul.
I remember telling you to be free,
to do what you will.
I will save from you my sorrows.
Express my right to heal.

Three hundred blank pages-I had no secrets.
Wonderment, confusion… how many of my secrets are true?
Accommodation for the breaking hearts
my greatest strength. Weakness.
Should have been wise and walked away.
I hurt too ill to speak it.

I love everything about you,
now I’m going home without you.

What you’ve done to me is wrong,
but who am I to judge?
I’m leaving here without you,
yet I cannot hold a grudge!
No footsteps to follow…
No one calls my name…
Are you sleeping?
Are you sleeping?

Six A.M., and I’m ‘so goddamn beautiful’.
Eleven, make your wish
that one day I could be all yours, and then you told me this;
”I keep to you because you’re kind, because you understand.
But no more kisses as goodbye. I just can’t hold your hand.”
I didn’t ask for anything. Considered you a gift.
I felt your pain as my own.
I did this while you slept.

The pebbles, they reminded me...
they reminded me like...

Ten thousand rounded stones down the river, long.
A threshold of drowning souls sleeps for an odd audience.
More than in the sky, they shine forever
in ways I’ve never shone.
One thing I’m sure I’ll never hear;
my name within your songs.

I watched as you and she parted sour ways.
I felt regret I wasn’t there to be your crying shoulder.
I remember telling you to be free,
to do as you may.
I would be your blanket comfort,
ceasing melancholy haze.

Worried that we’ve come too close, heartache might set,
and this night has come to show you everything I’ve done for you.
I’ve been support, and I have stepped aside.
Hurt instead of wept.
Strong for you as the night is long.
I did this while you slept.

I love everything about you,
now I’m going home without you.

What you’ve done to me is wrong,
but who am I to judge?
I’m leaving here without you,
yet I cannot hold a grudge!
No footsteps to follow…
No one calls my name…
Are you sleeping?
Are you sleeping?

Twelve P.M., the headaches nearly knock me out.
Six, and now it’s over.
Cast aside a little friend, your dying former lover.
You looked at me, I leaned away, I lost, now both we lack.
I nod and whisper “Bye” To you, I turned, did not look back.
Death to all those feelings that undying cut me deep.
This pain once yours is now my own.
It keeps me from my sleep.
