OVERDRESSED

Was this a wasted trip?
because, if this is bliss
I'm unimpressed
and overdressed
and hungry for the fruits of my pain
you know ...
"dances in the rain"

All around the monument
scalpers hawk passes to paradise
we all fall in line
and spend the time
and wonder when it's our turn
to fly
or fold and burn

So just take your foot off the brake
take it out of gear
stick your arms out the window
and pretend that you can fly

take your hands off the wheel
feel the wind in your hair
smile at the ones in line
as they all wave goodbye

This will be a lonely dance
around this crowded room
I'll learn this waltz
I'll take this fall
I'll thank my mother for the choices
she opened wide
on this 80 year rocket ride

Take your foot off the brake
