Pretention

Everything's false and I'm sure

You've heard me say it already.

So come on, let's all join hands and

Be pretentious as we truly are.

Would you like angst with your

Medium rare personality?

You don't have one? Well then,

The keyword is 'pretend'.

People say that what really matters

Is what's inside, not external beauty

But these are the truly disillusioned

Since what's on the outside counts

What shall we talk about now?

Ah yes, let's all get depressed

And let's all brag about our flaws

Still the worst is of self-pity

We're convinced that we have it bad

And yet we still seem lucky

You see, everyone wants attention

Good, bad, of any sort.

Then what becomes of identity?

This word has no more meaning

But who actually did believe in

This pack of optimists' lies?

'So deal with it, Life's unfair'

Has become such a clichéd phrase

It sounds as if you're tortured inside

But all of you is fake

Everything's false and I'm sure

You've heard me say it already.

So come on, let's all join hands and

Be pretentious as we truly are.
