Goodbye

It’s almost over – there’s just a few more hours to go

We’re nervous, palms are sweaty, stomach’s a knot

Once we shake hands, this chapter is ended

The diplomas represent victory in a battle well-fought

-

We’ll be clad in classy dresses and strappy sandals

Everyone has that black halter dress

We’ll giggle at the guys, so proper in their suits

And try not to sob our eyeliner into a mess

-

We’ll click-clack across the shiny stage

Trying not to twist ankles in too-high heels

We’ll listen with emotion to several speeches

And finally we’ll understand how goodbye feels
