Fairy Tale
By: Marianela Soza
Let me tell about you a damsel
Though I can't say she was in distress
For she was good in everything
Except her heart which was a mess
For every time she tried to love
A boy would make her heart a mess
She tried several times
And yet she couldn't find the best
So she decided to give up
For many months at a time
And this would seemingly be the end
Of a tragic tale of mine
Yet there is a special twist:
While she was looking for a horse to ride
Her eyes stopped at a handsome prince
Dressed in black armor and dragon hide
He gave her a charming smile
Then he offered her his hand
"Would you come upon this horse with me?"
And travel to another land?"
She thought
It was a mere dream
But still curtsied and said "Ofcourse"
And she took the handsome stranger's hand
And got upon the auburn horse
As they traveled she mused silently
And said "It's just too good to be true
Are you sure that you are noble?
And you won't break my heart too?"
He looked back at her smiling
And chuckling, shaking his head
He said "Dear Princess, you can trust me
This is a fairy tale soon to be read"
She put her heart in his hand
As she had done many times before
But this time it wasn't handed back it in peaces
He returned it bigger than before
For when they arrived in their destination
He led her down and took her hand
He told her "This is the land you've always dreamed of
And now it is yours, This is your land"
She searched his eyes for an explination
And soon found what she was looking for
He said "I doubt you remember me,
But I'm the little boy from next door
The one who played with you in the sand
Is here to make sure you don't get your heart broken anymore"
She smiled greatfully
Not believing what she could see
"It's every boy from before
Offering an apology"
Each great boy from before
Stood there, saying they were sorry
Telling her they'd take her back
put her heart together and make her merry
She simply shook her head
And began her wise words
"I know I once loved you
But dont be absurd
The one that I love is now in my hand
The one that made this faraway land
Without asking for anything he mended my wounds
This man is the one I shall take to my tomb!!"
The men cheered
Accepting her and their fate
They soon accepted that it was too late
So dear girls, listen to me
And my own wise words
When your own heart is broken, do not be absurd
A boy will come around and will capture your heart
I can assure your heart won't be apart
So for now, just focus on you and yourself
And don't let your feelings be bunched on a shelf
The day will come, and you will love and be loved
So for now, smell the roses
And stare at the doves
Because soon your prince will come, and from there and thereafter
I'll send you on your carraige, and you'll live happily ever after.
