How will I ever again see the sunset and not think of you?

I walked aimlessly down the beach as the high tide engulfed the shore, painting it black with silt.
I was alone…
the wind tangling my hair as the waves doubled against each other in the foam, my bare feet skirting the water. The clouds darkened.

…and seagulls will circle for only as long as the weather holds…

I scrawled your name deep in the sand, where the tide couldn’t reach and where I would never find it again.
