7 Stages of Women
All the world’s a tree
And all the men and women
are lush green leaves
They all have their browns and greens
And
one woman in her time, changes many times
She changes in Seven
Stages. At first the infant
The uncontrollable bladder, and the
blasphemous wailing
Then the immature school girl, with her
football
And dirty, muddy face, running like a cheetah
Can’t
wait to get to school, and then the irritable teen
Getting her
self into trouble, beating up fellow class mates
And terrorising
the teachers, then the college student
Full of weird and wacky
ideas, and witty as an owl
Getting high on booze, and partying
like a wild animal
Not remembering anything in the morning
Even
her own name, and then the mother
With care and
responsibility
Eyes full of pride, and a family to have faith
in
Devoted her life to her kin
Now the leaf is turning brown,
her time slips away
Her skin is crumpled up paper, and as delicate
as a tissue
A voice like a piccolo soo high and faint like an
echo
Her grand children old enough to forget who she is
For
they don’t care, just like her knitting
The sweet mellow sound
of her voice, finally ends
Just like her life
