Let me tell you one thing. Being a twin isn’t all that glamorous. It isn’t always fun, especially when your twin is freakishly popular, and an incredibly overprotective older brother.Rated: Fiction T - English - Romance/Drama - Chapters: 23 - Words: 54,568 - Reviews: 497 - Favs: 526 - Follows: 93 - Updated: 11-09-06 - Published: 06-29-06 - Status: Complete - id: 2202767

A/n: Wow, sorry it took my so long to post this. I seriouly tried to post it a few days after the last chapter, but stupid FictionPress wouldn't let me sign on. Sure, it let me sign on for reviewing, but when I tried to get onto my account? Noooo. Of course not. So, long story shot (too late) Here's the next and last chapter (unless I decide to do an epilouge, but I have no idea what I would do for it if I did. Ideas anyone?) And a finaly thanks to my beta Shannon, who has stuck with my sporadic updating and everything. I luv you!!!!
After Terri left me standing alone, I knew I had to find Taylor, or she'd never forgive me.
After about a half an hour I found him, getting himself a cup of punch. I grabbed his arm, and he jumped, staring at me.
"We need to talk." I said.
"Why? So you can tell me not to touch your sister again? I heard you loud and clear the first time."
"Tay, come on."
"Look." He said, jerking his arm out of my grip. He looked pissed off. "We're not going to fight, and you made it pretty clear you don't want to talk either. So what the hell do you want?!"
"I know what I want." Joyce said, coming up behind him. She let her hand trail down over his chest. He knocked it away.
"Get lost Joyce." He muttered darkly, and turned to leave. She stepped in front of him.
"But I thought you liked me!" She whined. I could see the second Taylor lost it.
"No! I don't!" He shouted, drawing the attention of the dozen or so people around us. Joyce's eyes widened. "Do you honestly think that people really like you? That they like all this hands-on flirting?! I don't like you, so get it through your head!" He shouted, then stalked outside.
I just stood there for a minute, as stunned by the outburst as Joyce was. Then she turned and glared at me.
"This is all you sister's fault. If she hadn't been throwing herself on Taylor, none of this would have happened." She spat. I felt my anger flare. That was as close as I've ever come to hitting a girl. If Lily hadn't grabbed on to my arm. . . I didn't want to think about that.
"He never liked you Joyce. And as for my sister? I thought she was your friend." Joyce gave me a smug look that made me really wish I did hit girls, and that Lily wasn't still holding my arm.
"She was." She said, and turned around, striding off.
"Carter, calm down. Please." I turned enough to look at Lily. "By tomorrow no one will be talking to her. Terri has more friends than she thinks." A small smile twitched at the corners of her mouth. "Right now my cousin needs you though." I swallowed, and nodded. She let go of my arm, and I headed off in the direction Taylor had gone. Someone, I don't remember who, pointed me outside. I found Taylor leaning against the brick of the building.
"Nice job." I said, walking up to him. He didn't say anything, and as I drew closer I saw that his eyes were closed. I felt the cool breeze playing with my shirt, and wished I had thought to bring my jacket with me.
"Are you just going to stand there all night?" He asked. I shook my head, shoving my hands in my pockets.
"Are you going to hit me?" He asked.
"Why? Did you do something to make me want to hit you?"
"Other than trying to make out with your little sister?" I swallowed my retort.
"Tay, look, I'm sorry." He cracked open one eye to watch me carefully. "It was stupid. Us fighting is stupid. Remember is seventh grade? We made a pact that no girl was going to worm her way between the two of us, remember?" His eyes opened all the way down and he shifted so he was looking at me levelly.
"Yeah." He said quietly.
"Well that includes Terri." I said. "And look. If you want to date her, I'm not going to stand in your way." He raised an eyebrow at me, and looked like he was trying to decide if I were serious or not.
"Think we should go back in?" I asked after the long period of silence.
"And have Joyce ambush me? Besides, Terri hates me." I couldn't help myself. I smacked the back of his head. "Ow! What was that for?"
"For being a freaking idiot. God, my sister's the one that made me come talk to you!"
"So you wouldn't have?" I ruffled my hair, slightly agitated.
"Well yeah, I would have. But that wasn't the point. She really does like you. And I want the two of you to be together." I really did.
"Then why'd you fucking hit me?" Taylor asked. I raised an eyebrow at him. I hadn't hit him that hard. "Not right now, before. When you came back and found me kissing her." I sighed heavily, running my hand through my hair again, shaking my head.
"Well, I hit you because I was a little drunk. And I'm really sorry about that." I really was.
"Thanks. . ." He said a little uncertainly.
"And about yesterday. I was in auto-brother mode." I always got like that when it came to Terri. I always had and always will. It's never going to change. "I'm sorry. Really."
"Apology accepted." He said, shifting and extending his hand. "So we're friends again?"
I shook it, then pulled him in for a one-armed hug. "Of course man." I said as we turned and started back inside.
"So you're really okay with this?" He asked. I rolled my eyes.
"You think I'd honestly be telling you to go make a move on my sister if I wasn't?" I asked. I winced at 'make a move' and I could see Taylor smirk out of the corner of my eye.
"Good point." Before we got inside, I grabbed his sleeve, making him stop.
"But I am going to warn you right now. If you hurt her. I'm going to have to kick your ass." He nodded, but I went on. "And if she hurts you, I have to kick her ass. And if you hurt each other, I've got two asses to kick."
"You mean donkeys." He said with a completely straight face before disappearing inside.
I couldn't help it. I cracked up right then and there against the side of the building.
Things would never the same, but everyone was happy.
It was the end of our story, and Taylor got the girl. (Not that I wanted the girl, she was my sister, ew. I just meant he got a girl.)
But I did get my (almost) happily ever after.
Yeah, I know they've got this cute little button that sends a review reply from my account now, but I never use it.
