Standing Up
Searching for a heart
to sunder,
To rip and tear; to
hurt and plunder.
With vengeful grin,
intention lewd,
Lies of lust, to her he
cooed.
Forever more was weapon
one,
With gold and diamonds
soon to come,
Disillusioned in him
she placed,
Faith a-bounding, her
heart raced.
To those she knew, it
was so clear,
And in their hearts was
only fear.
But for one man, to
watch was wrong,
His love for her indeed
too strong.
The other’s deception
was skilled indeed,
To her, his water sweet
as mead.
So into action was put
a plan,
To reveal to her, he
was but a flan.
A trail of roses placed
with care,
Brought her to a place
so fair,
The note had said to
meet him there,
For she was the one
that he held dear.
But as the field came
into view,
She lost all sense of
what to do.
It was not her that he
held near,
His infidelity now all
too clear.
And as her tears began
to fall,
There was one who
watched it all.
He walked up, and by
her side,
Offered a needed place
to hide.
A gentle hand wiped
tears away,
She felt loved, in
every way.
Finally she’d been
set free,
Now in true love, with
him she’d be.
