HAZELTINE PARK REVIVAL

English sheepdog wanders
on a fresh mown lawn
Missy screams "push me"
at her mother who is chatting
with a friend on the bench
lone willow on an island
in the middle of the river
that rolls by fast and high
from weeks and weeks of rain
me?
I'm alone
it's my monthly long lunch
on a sunny casual Friday
which is company policy
I'm eating lox and cream cheese
on a toasted onion bagel
I spilled half my soup a while ago
and had to move to the
other side of the table
I win today
usually my job beats me
but today nothing
can distract my soul
I promise
Sometimes, I'm afraid
I've lost the best parts of me
in places
I don't really care about
