incense burning
sickly sweet, eyes watering
but not, in any case
of fumes fading to gray

and the wailing, jarring
sounds, garish red
surrealy distasteful, bitter,
harsh, quick on the tongue
I distance myself from it
acknowledge its soothing mummur

brightness drives away the
approaching darkness
because they, I, dont want to embrace it
for its morbid stillness
admist the sounds
lying there

incense burning.
it stings deeper as I
blink it away and
watch from a distance,
burn away
what a waste of money.
