This story ties with the story; ‘The Elemental Gods’, also written by me. I suggest you keep track of that one as well since not all the Gods and Goddesses are written there yet.
Falling, falling. Closing her eyes, Niichiel could feel the hot air surge past her, shredding her once beautiful wings to nothing.
’Why is this happening to me!’ she thinks, while squeezing her eyes shut tighter and tighter. Pain flowed through her body, and before she knew it, Niichiel was out.
”Hey… Hey, you… Are you okay?”
Groaning slightly, Niichiel opens her eyes. Water blurs her vision, but not enough to make her unable to see the person in front of her.
’Blue Eyes…’ she thinks, blinking dazed.
The person in front of her in a tanned boy with his hair, eyes and clothing in different tones of blue and a strange earring in his left ear.
’What is this?’ Niichiel looks around confused, but her vision is again blurred by water. ‘Am I dead?’ She turns her focus to the boy in front of her once again, taking in his appearance. ‘Cute…’
”Are you okay?” the boy asks again.
Niichiel nods absentmindly. ‘If I’m dead… then where am I?’
”Wow, I’m glad. I was surprised when I saw you fall in, that hasn’t happened before.”
’Fall in?’
The boy looks at her confused. “Why won’t you talk?”
Niichiel blinks once again. ‘Talk?’ Confused by the fact that she can still breathe, Niichiel opens her mouth. “Where are we?” Her voice is slightly slurred by the water surrounding them, but she doesn’t pay attention to it. She only pays attention to the guy in front of her.
”You mean you don’t know?” the boy asks.
Niichiel shakes her head, signalling a clear ‘no’.
The boy let’s out a sigh. “Figures, you wouldn’t ask if you did… Well, you have fallen into the Lake of Life. The lake that everyone searches, but no one can find… Who are you?”
’The Lake of Life?’ Niichiel thinks. ‘Even God himself doesn’t believe the existence of this… I must be dreaming, or dead…’ Realising the boy’s stare, Niichiel realises his question. “My name is Niichiel… Who are you?”
”Niichiel?” The boy asks, getting a nod in confirmation. “Nice name. A little strange, but nice. I’m Kolange. I’m the God of Water and I protect the Lake of Life, showing it only to those who deserve it… Though I didn’t sense you entering.”
”God?” Niichiel questions.
Kolange nods. “Yeah… You thought there was only one God or something?”
Niichiel frowns slightly. In all her existence as an angel, she has never seen another God but her own. “How many… Gods are there?” she asks, slightly confused about the whole ordeal.
Kolange grins at her. “A lot, too many for even me to know actually. But, what do you say we go to the shore a moment? I doubt the water is comfortable to you.”
The bluenet was right. Even though Niichiel could speak, hear and breath under water, the pressure was making her head hurt and her ears sting. She nods, and tries to swim, but finds that she can’t move her legs, or spread her fingers the way she’d like to.
Looking down in confusion, Niichiel’s eyes widen drastically. Her slim legs have melted together, leaving only her foot bare from the ankle to her toes, which are helplessly melted together as well. Looking at her hands, she sees why she can’t move her fingers like she wanted to. Molten. Looking over her whole body and feeling her face, Niichiel finds that her complete right part is deformed in molten masses.
”A-Are you okay?” Kolange asks, slightly unnerved by the panicked face of Niichiel.
”M-My wings! D-Do I still have my wings!?” Niichiel asks frantically.
”Wings?” Kolange asks confused. “I don’t see any wing-… You had wings?”
Niichiel cries a desperate cry of sorrow, making Kolange back away slightly. “WHAT HAPPENED TO ME!?”
”I-I don’t know!” Kolange says feverishly. “Why don’t we go up and see what’s going on, okay?”
”I can’t go up! I can’t move!” Niichiel cries out.
Kolange frowns, and something changes in his eyes. Niichiel can feel the water pressure change and looks at the God confused before being pushed up by the water, soon followed by Kolange.
’What is going on!?’ is the only thought running through Niichiel’s head, until her eyes focus on Kolange again. ‘Is he really a God too? Did mine abandon me? What is going on? I don’t understand any of this!’
A splash is heard, and Niichiel and Kolange are thrown out of the water, onto the shore. Niichiel’s long golden eyes cover her mostly melted body, while Kolange is standing next to her lying figure.
”I want you to explain to me, who and what you really are.” Kolange says, a serious expression on his face.
Niichiel lets out a sigh. ‘My God really has abandoned me...’ “My name is Niichiel.” She starts, sting up as good as she can with her immobile limbs. “I am a former Angel of Life. I just got cast away by God…”
Kolange sits down next to her and lets out a sigh as well. “Well… That sucks.”
Niichiel doesn’t reply, just looks at the muddy floor. ‘Rachiel… What happened to her?’ It takes her a moment or two to realise that Kolange is talking to her. Shaking her head slightly, she looks at the young looking God confused.
Kolange let’s out another sigh. “What did you do?”
Niichiel frowns. “I… I don’t… know…”
Upon not receiving a reply, she continues; “I remember being stuck somewhere, and my sister, Rachiel… I remember seeing her. She released me from the binds that held me, but we fell. She was caught by her lover, but I kept falling… And then I woke up.”
Kolange nods slightly, staring at the lake absentmindly. “Well… I guess there is nothing you can do about it now. You are in no condition to move anywhere, so I suggest you stay in the water. The lake will keep you alive.”
”But I don’t want to be alive like this!” Niichiel screams, gesturing to her legs. “I don’t!”
Kolange rolls his eyes slightly. “You know… There are worse things, you know.” He mumbles
”Like what.” Niichiel grumbles, folding her arms over her chest.
”Like… Me not being here!” Kolange grins.
Niichiel smiles slightly. “I don’t really know if that’s a good thing…”
”Hey!” Kolange pouts.
After some persuasion, Kolange managed to get Niichiel to live in the Lake of Life. They spend a lot of time together, and as the years grew by, Niichiel became sadder and sadder for what she had lost.
”I am practically begging here! Can’t you do me a favour?” Kolange pleads, arms waving around, almost stomping a tanned man whose hair looked like it was on fire with green eyes and a strange golden amulet hanging on a chain, and dressed in red.
”Brother, watch it.” The boy mutters.
”Sorry, Shannan.” Kolange sighs, before turning to the six persons he was talking to in the beginning. “Please Telio, Nemesis, Saint Osiris, Sakura, Kaisuke and Darkana! I want to give it to her!”
Kaisuke shrugs slightly. “I don’t really mind, but I’m not the one that can make that decision on my own.”
Telio and Nemesis look at each other a few seconds, silently debating and communicating before nodding. “We don’t mind either.”
”Why is it okay to do such a thing?” Sakura asks silently.
”She has suffered too much already, all by the hands of others.” Kolange says, looking at the ceiling absentmindly. “I want to give her another chance.”
Sakura and Saint Osiris glance at each other before nodding as well.
”Darkana?” Kaisuke asks softly, as all the eyes turn to the youngest of the six, the one of Darkness that has yet to speak.
”Hm?”
”What do you think? Does she deserve it?” Telio asks, his eyes set in a slight frown due to the lack of response from the one so much younger then him, but still just as important.
”No.”
Kolange’s eyes widen. The six need to agree with each other before the request can be fulfilled. “N-No?” he stutters.
”No.” Darkana repeats.
”Why not?” Shannan asks, for the first time speaking in his brother’s advantage. “I mean… if it doesn’t work out, we can always take it away, right?”
”Why would we grant it to her?” Darkana asks, looking up at Kolange. “Why would we grant it to you?”
”Because she deserves it!” Kolange shouts out, not caring that he is yelling at his higher-ups. “She deserves this one chance, this one chance to change! Why can’t you see that!”
Darkana smirks, leaning back in her silver chair. “But I see it.” She says, before looking outside again. “She can have it.”
Smiling slightly, Kolange bows to the six respectfully. “Thank you…”
”Niichiel!” Kolange yells from the shore.
A few seconds later, the said female appears from the water, her half melted face meeting Kolange’s as she sees him.
Grinning at her, Kolange waves her over. Shrugging, Niichiel swims towards him.
”Guess what?” Kolange grins.
“What?” Niichiel asks.
”You have a wish.”
Niichiel’s eyes widen. “A-A wish?”
Kolange nods happily. “Yes! I spoke to other Gods and Goddesses about it, Gods and Goddesses who have enough strength to achieve it, but you have a wish. One single wish, and it can be anything you want!”
Niichiel smiles at Kolange, taking in the features she had grown accustomed to seeing. “Thank you…” she whispers.
Kolange smiles at her. “No problem. I have to go for a little while, okay? I’ll come back as soon as I can, and then I’ll hear your wish, is that enough time to think it over?”
Niichiel nods.
”Good, then I’ll see you in a little while.
”Have you made your wish yet?”
Niichiel nods, looking at the water her legs are resting in.
”Well? What are you waiting for! Tell me!” Kolange urges.
Niichiel looks up at him and smiles sadly, knowing that if this wish is accepted, that she might never see him again.
”Well?”
Niichiel let’s out a sad sigh. “Ii wish to be reborn…”
And the wish was granted. Niichiel
was reborn in a new form. A mortal one, but also a Goddess one. The
Angel of Life was now the Goddess of Life. She forgot her memories of
what happened in the past, but she will remember them again, whether
it’d be her new life, or one of the lives after that.
But
Kolange has been with you every following life after that, Guarding
her like he did in the past…
The End
