An unsatisfactory tale of mystery and despair won’t save you this time

Now it’s up to you to be just and admit to the crime

The only person you’ll harm most is yourself by lying

And why’d you want that, the hurt and the crying?

It was never about the crime

It was never about doing your just time

I just needed to know I could trust you

To do the right thing that I wanted you to

-

This was a long time ago

Before I knew better then to give you a go

I thought you could be good

I thought you’d change for me

But the only time to change a man

Is when he’s a baby

This was long ago

Before ’66 with the winter of snow

I trusted you

I wanted to

Because I loved you

And I still do

-

But now I am over you

It took me a while

I sat and took anti depressants

And I forgot how to smile

But now I’m back

From wishing you were here

I don’t want to be just be of your criminal record

I thought I was your near and dear

All I was was a girl

Picked up in a bar

Who you thought would be a deploy

When you were stealing a car

-

A cheesy smile and made up story isn’t what you need

It’s a lesson in learning from your greed

Did you need the car, did you need that money

Did you need that gun, did you need me?

This time you have no alibi

Its time to tell the truth and say good bye

I wanted to trust you

But this is what you’ve brought me to
