“Fine! If that will get you to leave me alone, then lets talk.”
J.J. put her down.
Lelani fixed her skirt and started walking towards a bench.
J.J. followed.
They both sat down.

“Okay let’s get this over with. What do you want to talk about?” She said while staring ahead.
“Us.”
She turned and looked at him.

“Well DUH! I know that. You know what? Let’s get to the point. Why did you come here?”

“I came because I wanted to find-“
Lelani scoffed. “Yeah right,” she muttered.

“As I was saying. I wanted to find you and tell you how sorry I am for what I put you thru. And what an idiot I was for just letting you go like that.”

Lelani stared ahead not saying a word.
J.J. still stared at her waiting for a response.
After awhile he sighed.

“Anyway that’s all I wanted to say to you,” He started to get up,” I guess I’ll go now.”
He turned to go.

“J.J. sit down.”

“What?” He said turning his head.
She turned to look at him.
“I said sit down.”
He sat down.

“Look I forgive you ok. It’s just that I was hurt, really hurt.”
She looked down and sighed.
She looked back up.

“What I’m trying to say is that I haven’t forgotten you at all even though I wanted to and… well… I guess that’s all I wanted to say.”

Lelani got up and began to turn around.
She was moving slowly.
J.J. sighed and smiled.

“Lelani, sit down.”

She turned around.

“Huh?"

J.J. looked up at her and said, “I said sit down.”

Lelani smiled.

And for the first time in four years she felt her heart open up again.
