A 'contract' marriage.

I thought that was only in the romance books. What is ti, you may ask? Well, you know the whole thing where the man hires a young gorgeous woman to play 'wife' with him just until a certain time?

That's what it is.

Well, wanna know why I'm bringing this up?

I'm about to be in one with Jacob Cleaver, my boss.

And let me tell you, it's probably not ganna turn out good.

"You would be playing wife with me for only 6 months- just enough time to make my parents believe that we've been married for a long enoughtime." I looked over the piece of paper with letters on it, spelling out 'Marriage Contract' on the top. The pen, perched in my hand, dripped ink on the oak desk, making little dripping noises.

"And how much would I be getting paid?" I asked slowly, reading the contract over and the terms. Jacob shuffled behind me, peaking over my shoulder.

"You will be paid in payments- 10,000 each month." When I configured it, that was 60,000. I could really use the money, but I don't feel good about being used by my boss just to make him look good. The situation was just too risky.

"What if someone found out?" I scanned again over the contract again.

"That's why we keep our mouth shut, isn't it, Miranda?" He asked sarcastically, slamming his hand down on the contract. "It's easy- you pretend to be Miranda Cleaver for 6 months, I pay you, you save your house in time." I spun around to look at him, horrified.

"How the hell do you know about that?" How did he know about my house?! Jacob sighed.

"I've heard you over in the lounge talking about it to your friend about it. Miranda, your house can be saved- with my money. What is there to refuse about this?" I stared at the paper harder, brushing a piece of my blonde hair aside lazily.

"Do I have to change anything about me? You know, do I have to die my hair or get contacts to change my eye color, anything?" Jacob looked my face over silently.

"No.Why do you ask?"

"Your parents. They're old century, that's why. They might want you to be with a brunette or something." Jacob laughed.

"Miranda, they're modern enough. They don't think like that." I sighed and positioned the pen tip on the 'Signature' line.

"Just to let you know, you can't fall in love with me if I agree."

"It's in the contract that we can't fall in love. It's all right. That part's protected." I blinked and started to sign my name slowly.

Miranda...Spelling

Oh my god...
