Chapter 1

Samantha, losing ground, looked ahead. Down the long corridor, she saw Kayna running, “Wait up!” she yelled breathlessly.

“Fuckin move it, we don’t have time!” Kayna yelled, coming to a bit of a slow run, stopping slightly as she saw the darkness following the two. “We have to get out of here!”

Kayna Lead the way threw the long twisting corridor. High plastered walls surrounded the two on both sides. The walls were at one time an off-white color, but due to little or no light, faded into a gloomy grayish tint. She heard her own running trail as she quickly swept over and threw the unknown passages. The hospitals walls seemed to be endless, though they kept going, with no hope to end. The features of this section were bleak. They hadn’t much emotion to them. The atmosphere was different. Stale. Old.

Suddenly, Kayna saw up ahead two doors, leading into yet another unknown destination. She hurried, looking back to see Samantha struggling. As she came farther and farther upon the doors, she stopped. She heard Samantha’s breathless shouting tracing into her thoughts. “Wait up.”

Samantha quickened her pace to regain her place with Kayna. The two girls quickly looked at each other, as the lights of the building were shutting off just moments behind them.

“Where do we go,” Samantha whispered in a terrified voice.

“Just follow me.”

Kayna ran forward, grasping the cold handle of the door tightly. She noticed the severity of how cold it was, even as to how warm she was momentarily. Quickly she turned away from Samantha. Tightening her grip on the door handle, she twisted it.

Surprised, she threw back the door, as a warm breeze of air jolted her in the face. Kayna walked into the room, startled from what she saw, the lights, were that of the early 2000’s, she hadn’t seen lights like the ones overhead since her father took her to the “early days” show. It was a mystery as to why this room’s lights were the way they were. She took a solemn look around her perimeter, noticing the layers of what appeared to be dust on the walls and table. Surprisingly, there was no other furniture other than an old table with a cover of some sort draped over it.

Realizing that Samantha had entered the room, Kayna quickly hurried out the rod-iron door on the far side of the room. Again, the door was un-locked.

Samantha and Kayna continued threw the narrowing corridors, stopping only briefly when Kayna dropped the photo from her tote-bag. Suddenly, they came to a large rusty rod-iron door. Kayna tried the door, but with no luck, hurried off in the direction she had came. Samantha followed behind.

Moments later Kayna looked back, to see Samantha’s body heavily fall to the floor. She saw the dark shadow of which had been following the two, overtake her body, burning, eating away at the flesh. She heard the screams as Samantha slowly died. Kayna watched the girl she had known for so little time, slowly perish into the depths of hell. She saw Samantha’s lips part slightly, but only heard a faint whisper as the body lay limp.
