Jack and Jill
It’s late in October
The sky’s getting colder
There’s a little boy running
And a man that’s quite cunning
He’s got his eye on the ball that’s rolling
Towards him… Closer yet, it won’t stall…
He watches as the boy gets a scolding
Before he runs after his ball
The man is being quite patient
As the boy trips and falls on the pavement
And turns his attention away to a girl
On the monkey bars dressed in frill
The sky’s getting darker
The man’s clearly a stalker
He’s watching…
He’s watching the children go by
He offers a hand to the fallen boy
And hands him his ball, the kid’s full of joy
He thanks the tall man
And he tells him he does what he can
The boy’s clearly gullible
The man grins at Jack, and sends him on his way
With nothing else to say
He’s waiting now for Jill…
Jill slips and falls from the bars
She doesn’t notice the man watching from afar
She finds that she’s scraped her knee
But she’s close enough for him to see
The man scurries over in a hurry
He hands her a band-aid he’d pulled from his pocket
She thanks him, and finds her vision’s quite blurry
As the man grins behind the collar of his jacket…
Jill gets up from the ground
And runs away to the slide
Where Jack can be found
And down the metal they’ll glide…
The man underneath the monkey bars
Stands still watching them and listening to passing cars
He’ll stay there for a decade or two
Waiting for them to come out of the blue
And he’ll take them away to a place close by
But of course this will be a lie
He’s waiting…
He’s waiting to take the children for a ride…
