Darkness Descends

I stand alone in silence,
where the living come
from both sides of the field.

Darkness descends.

The trees sway and rock
signaling the cannon's fire-
and all begins.

We all charge like that arrow
that strikes the bull's eye-
stopping to hit only the target.

Here comes the Black Horror,
a Plague of the Night
and a Storm of the Heavens.

Metal Beasts and Black Horror collide,
almost fusing into one.
Death dawns.

I stand alone
in the earth's eerie call,
wishing to die.

All is deathly silent-
the battle over.
I survive.
