Rain beats down unforgiving on the travelers' heads as they walk towards the ocean. As they reach the shore, they can see 20 foot storm surges rise above the sand like some great, malevolent animal, deadly and ready to strike.

But the travelers aren’t worried, armed to the teeth with weapons, it looks as if they are prepared to go to war with the ocean its self. No, it isn’t the water that bothers them, but rather the things that lay in wait in the ocean, waiting for them. And they must come to it, but they wont give in to it without making a hell of an impression on it.

Even from the distance, one can see red spiders like legs that rise above the water in the middle of the ocean. occasionally, you can see tiny teeth that cling onto the legs blindly snap at the air, waiting for the doomed that it has called. As the travelers, the damned, get into the boat, the teeth snap even more frantically, and the legs trash around more, as if it senses its meal has entered its domain.

As the travelers notice this, they enter that boat quickly, ready to get this over with. The ferry man handed the man in the front a lantern, muttered a prayer for them and stepped off the boat. "Good luck, my saviors," he whispers as they sail off grimily into the maw of the monster.

As they get closer and closer to the strange thing, they can now see the tiny red scales that covered the thick legs that had looked so delicate from far away, like lace. Some of the company grimace, while others nervously fiddle with their weapons. They are unsure of how to attack such a thing. But they don’t have to worry. The monster decides for them by nearly hitting the boat with one of its legs, making a huge swell in the water and almost toppling the little boat over.

The passengers quickly get over it. The weapons they have on there person are a last resort, the ones in the boat where provided by the locals, charmed and blessed by the holy people of this foreign land. They got out poison laced harpoons, the toggle irons that go into them, and the little red glass balls that explode when thrown. It isn’t much, but it was their only hope.

The one in the back, her name is Bas, screams, "Ready!? Its the time to show if we can make it or if we die! Remember, if we die, the sea takes our souls, not a fate I wish to have. Don't give in without a fight!"

They all roar in agreement.

The balls hit the legs and make little puffs of green blue smoke as they explode like tiny campfires all up and down a red road. Some of the harpoons hook onto the tiny scales, but more often, they slid off ineffectually. They bounced back to the ship, destroying the sides.

It didn’t seem to be doing much to the creature, only making it more agitated. The teeth lashed out when a leg came crashing down, grabbing a few of them with its teeth, crushing the middle of the makeshift boat.

It sinks slowly, nosily into the ocean, another batch of souls captured by the kappa. The legs slide back into the water to rest with its meal for a few hundred years.

Hey y'all! This is just a little experiment, what do ya think? Good? Bad? Weird? What? I know that camp fire red road thing was the lamest line ever...
