My Attractiveness

It’s not in my buck toothed,

jelly-rolls, or lack of fingernails.

I found it without makeup

dressed down in dingy

navy blue slacks, and

an eternally stained yellow tee,

missing a button.

I keep it hidden in that messy

stack of books, exploding

from under my unmade bed.

I only let people see it when I am

discussing literature, music,

boring stuff, or

something humiliating.

Sometimes I wish for that

perfect figure, face, or voice.

but none of these things could ever

out-live my favorite blue pants.
