Gabriel

dimmed eyes howling from lack of memory
ravaged scars that trace the wilted body, veins traced like rivers
flowing through desecrated land

a worn out mask
so grotesque and ethereal, facing away from
the piercing light of another hot day

denim and oversized flannel rags
clothing the starved body
hung like a scarecrow upon a wooden cross
out in the fields
guarding the crops

submitting to the sickness
bleeding uncontrolled, bleeding sap
as roots reclaim him,
coiling up bony arms and legs

easy nature subject to forget,
he is faded into boredom and oblivion and
orchids sprouting at his feet
shadows of his orchids on the angles of his face
