Bed of broken dreams

Watch my smile
crumble to broken pieces in mid-air;
Hear my laughter
stumble and fall headfirst down the stair.

See the sadness
nest again in the corner of my eyes;
Every gladness
turns out a heap of broken lies.

So hold me as the evening falls,
hold me, hold me tight.
Leave me to my bitter tears,
let me go tonight.

Beauty is a paradox,
every joy must taste of pain,
every goodness bears a wound,
every white a crimson stain.

Kiss me as the evening falls,
touch me in the waning light,
bed me in my broken dreams,
let me die tonight.
