To create the ideal digital portrait
I am told that the pen is key.
Clouds in the sky,
Emotive eyes,
Lemon Meringue pie—
All curves rely upon the pen tool.
Tutorials demand perfection in fine procedure,
and I am determined to obtain
an online database of computer generated delight.
Aghast, I see my workplace as a swamp.
I dive through swatches and layers,
text enhancements and digital effects.
I wade through lassoes and gradients,
Fill buckets and stampers,
but the mighty pen is nowhere to be found.
Suddenly, Lo!
I stumble upon the pencil:
the King of the cubic centimeter.
I look for its lead to the fair queen,
Alas! The pen remains lost in cyberspace!
Heeding the help menu,
my dreams slowly crumble.
Neo, there is no pen.
Pixilated perfection reduced to a world of
linear modeling.
There will be no skies,
No eyes,
No pies.
There was never a savior,
and without upgrade, there will be no messiah.
The pen befalls this digital deviant,
yet I quickly recover and turn my faith to the King.
This time my service lies in reality.
Codex, programming, graphic design? PLEASE!
Pencil and paper requires no hassle.
The only mandatory tool you need is a touch of creative genius,
and perhaps a pencil sharpener—
if only you could find one.
