Just a drip and
a drop;
That was all I had,
for days and days,
weeks and weeks,
in that dry
dead
awful place.

Just a sip and
a slurp;
That was all I was granted,
and grateful I was.
Day and night,
I would dance
and sing,
sip and slurp.

Eventually,
I was rich;
I knew I would never go
thirsty again.
I made pools,
rivers, streams;
lakes, and ponds.
I surrounded myself
with water,
everything was at least a little
damp or wet.
I however,
never learned to
properly swim.

It was not
long ‘til I drowned;
not much longer ‘til my death.
here I lie,
at the bottom of a lake;
surrounded as I am
by water,
I am dead and dry.
