Cliché Commercials

Emotionless drones of a sham of society
locked into ideals of impropriety
Bright white smiles of cliché commercials
It's the end of the world in a perverse reversal

drawn like moths to the light
with the cruelly bright
hypnotic hum of death

searching for the rush to bring us back
to make us catch our breath
Trapped in spheres of malcontented morality
walking the fine line of insanity

Searching for tomorrow when
we haven't reached today
It's okay, we'll just
hit rewind.

Scouring the landfills of reality
Never knowing what we'll find.
Staring slack jawed at the tortured souls
and still--the camera rolls.
