Stranger

Sing to me in shadow when the cloud have fought the sky

And the world is drenched in teardrops from a lonely, unknown eye

When the wind is in the meadows, and the taste of fallen air

Is a sweetened sort of longing past the edge of black despair.

OOO

And in your song, please tell me of the world that lies outside

The sunlight in the treetops and the laughter of the tide

Reflected in the oceans that still pulse within each vein

Past all knowing and all knowledge, still they are, and yet remain.

OOO

So weave for me a tale of the sky and sea and rain

Of a pebble-stricken beach, and a longing far past pain

There are worlds beyond all measure that still lurk deep within

But for a time, I’d like see the earth beyond my skin.
