A Fable
The stars are chips of a broken radience
that crashed into the sea. In longing
and unrequited love, they hid
from the bright sun, unwilling
unable to bear the reminder
of all that they had lost. The moon
took pity upon the shattered fragments
and treated them with kindness. Drawn
by her unflinching devotion, they gathered
and basked within her glow. Forsaking
the harsh, strident light of day
for the mysteries of the night.
