Evan's Story
Siese
Prologue
All my life I have been different: special somehow. When I was a young child, I could move things with my mind or set things on fire. I nearly leveled our house when I was six years old. My name is Evan. This is my story.
When I was nine years old, my parents fully realized that I had been not only responsible for the burning of our house, but for almost every incident in the town. The townsfolk were frightened of me and demanded that my parents send me away to gain control of my powers. They were poor and had little money, but at the interview for acceptance to the school, a small show of my “talent” was brought before the lady, and I was entered into the school on a full scholarship.
At sixteen years old, I was moved to a University in a big city called Dra’Lin. The University is basically a big castle. It holds dormitories, classes, a three-story library, a post office, a magic store, a cafeteria, and its own personal gladiator arena, which is open to not only the students for practicing at any hour of the day or night, but for a competition for any man or woman willing to compete. The event is huge, and it is held annually in the fall. I have never been able to compete until today; the age requirement is eighteen years.
But even at this school for the “gifted” I am shunned by all the other students. I never understood why, but the not-so-subtle hints are undeniable. If I was a weaker sorcerer, I’m sure I would have fit in with everyone my age. The one thing in this entire planet that I can’t understand is humans…why is everyone so cruel to their peers?
