Joy

I think I’ll write today
Today is worthy of a dream.
So filled am I with a joy
I have always known but seldom felt.
I would have this be the way
You most often remember me.
My soul takes flight on wings
I am proud to have helped create.
I will my pen to move,
As my thoughts fly across the page.
And so my laughter pours out as ink.
Laughter that may not reach others’ ears.
Where it lands, it lingers,
As I would have it linger in my heart.
Those echoes will die down,
But these will see tomorrow.
It is my joy to share them
As freely as I received them.
I may not gladly relinquish this day,
But I will not wish for it back.
The feelings it grants me
Are mine to enjoy,
And mine to produce
From their wealth.
Now rejoice in your living,
And remember, joy can be treasured on paper
But its echoes may stray from your heart.
