Wisdom

Wisdom comes and wisdom goes,
Wisdom dies and no one knows.
Wisdom is not what they see,
When the seekers look at me.

Wisdom does not money make.
Wisdom does not death escape.
Wisdom pain and sorrow knows.
Wisdom’s seeds are hard to sow.

People will not lend their ear
To wisdom without cane and beard.
Wisdom has no dividend,
‘Till your life is at its end.

Judging by this world of strife,
wisdom is a waste of life,
But o’er this world of willing fools
Wisdom’s hand will one day rule.
