Dance in the rain
I look outside
At the rain falling down
I silently whisper
My thanks to the clouds
The rain falls lightly
While I’m all alone
No one but my dog
I am here at home
Temptation lurks
The corners of my mouth
And it forms a smirk
That speaks quite loud
I look down at what I’m wearing
Hair Down, pajamas from the previous day
I’ve loved the rain before
But never in this way
I go to my backyard
And let my dog out with me
The rain comes down, pouring
But I feel it softly
I am hypnotized by it
In a bit of a trance
And before I can stop myself
I begin my dance
I laugh like I once did
As a little girl
I hop around my backyard
And give my self a twirl
My dog is perplexed
But he soon joins in
And soon I’m dancing with him
Sporting wet clothes and a grin
We dance around a lot
Till we can’t anymore
We fall to the ground
And soon get up for more
My pajamas are wet and sticky
But I don’t really care
I ignore without trying
My neighbor’s confused stare
It feels amazing
To dance in the rain
Nothing to be sad again
And no one to complain
It feels incredible
It’s just the rain and you
It doesn’t matter how crazy you look
Or if you feel it too
It gives you a sense of freedom
A miniscule sense of pride
But you must always return to the real world
I have to get inside
2 hours later my mom comes home
Worried, for I have caught a cold
The smile on my face hides my secret
I feel so warm even if its ice cold
I come to my conclusion easily
As with chicken soup I sit
For one to truly love the rain
One must dance in it.
