First Chapter of the “Chronicles of the Five Pillars”

The Aurumon Soleviel regarded the small babe with milky white wings – five pairs of wings… Silver eyes – no, Platinum eyes – were filled with innocence as it lay unaware of what the being gazing down upon it was capable of.

Soleviel turned towards the baby’s caretaker. “The name?”

The woman bowed. “Palantha.”

The hesitation within him lasted for only mere seconds. “…And the gender?” But he already knew the answer…

“None.”

The Aurumon focused cool amber eyes on the giggling infant once more.

It was a puzzle – a terrifying yet magnificent puzzle. He knew that down the hall, in another room, was a child with the opposite traits to the one currently wrapped within white cotton sheets.

Gold metallic wings rustling slightly, he gently – carefully – took the child Palantha in his arms and left the room. He walked down the great hall. The further he walked, the darker the hall became. It was because he was about to enter the area meant for the creatures of darkness.

Soleviel stopped in front of a tall thick black door. The Golden ring around his finger flared lightly and the heavy doors opened. Inside the foreboding room was a creature with red butterfly wings and long black hair. The creature held a babe wrapped in black velvet in his arms.

“Ah!” he said brightly, a smile adorning his face once he saw the Aurumon. “Soleviel! Who is that you are holding?”

The Crimsen Noirn’s smile was vicious and Soleviel expected no less from the bloodthirsty race. They both possessed the Gold level of power but it would still be wise to be wary of the cruel male.

“The next Ruler of the five races,” was Soleviel’s answer. “And you, Noirn?”

The smile became more dangerous. “Why! The next Ruler of the five races!”

Soleviel saw the brief flash of the Crimsen’s Golden earrings. Crimsens, with their ferocious nature, always only had one pair of wings for they did not believe in social structures, only power. Beautiful and alluring, everything they ever do was always hinted with danger and death… But Aurumons were more than just their match… That fact defined the relationship of the two.

Rivals. That’s what Soleviel and Noirn were.

“Genderless with five pairs of wings?” It was more of a statement than a question. The smile disappeared from Noirn’s face as he nodded with a serious look.

“Little Gyriem here possesses the Golden eyes,” Noirn explained as he looked down at the baby in his arms. “He is an Ebonian, born with the Gold.”

Soleviel took a step forward and gestured to the baby in his arms. “Palantha is an Ivoree, born with the Platinum eyes and the Platinum level.”

Noirn looked shocked – and the Crimsen was rarely shocked.

“The Platinum metal?” he whispered in disbelief. “Born with the Platinum level?”

Soleviel nodded. “I have been given the task to raise him or her…”

Noirn’s cocky disposition returned. “And I have been assigned to become the loyal servant of this future Ruler.”

Soleviel did not reply and silence reigned.

Yes… Palantha and Gyriem were puzzles… Beautiful and chilling puzzles…

Only one Ruler was born at one time…

…But why are there two?

A/N: My latest story! This is the prequel of Cheating Life! I decided to make a story that leads up to the reason why Noir – whose real name is Noirn – was exiled to Earth in the first place! But obviously, that is a side story for now… Please tell me what you think of the prologue so far!
