Sometimes I wish

I had an eraser

to erase the mistakes,

even certain years of my life,

like the debt I owe

on credit cards

and student loans.

Every circumstance,

every twist of fate

or chance,

has shaped me into

what I’ve become.

Who hasn’t wondered,

if they

would have been better,

if certain things had not

happened the way

they did.

-

But I must learn to accept,

my past and the debts

I owe.

Ultimately,

I have come to realize,

I’m not in control.
