She couldn’t watch her leave like this. Not again.
She thrust out a pale hand, and grasped the shoulder of the one in front of her, the one who was bout to walk out the door.
“I’m sorry I just…” she paused, her tone lowering from the outburst, she was ashamed for being so weak, “…I just… Wanted to hear your voice…you know…”
The brown-haired girl stopped, looking back with her blue eyes at the one who had just stopped her. She hesitated, before deciding on a frown and a worried expression.
“Oh Corruption, I’m so sorry.”
She bit her lip, chewing on it a bit to get rid of the tension she was feeling. Raising a finger she moved one of the slate strands of hair that was straying into Corruption’s grey eyes.
“Depression, you… You still do love me, right?”
Depression reached forward, bringing the smaller homunculus forward into her embrace. How could she have let this happen? How could she have let Corruption doubt her like this?
“More than anything, darling. You know that.”
“But you won’t talk; everything’s more important.”
Depression forced a smile, “Corruption darling, you know that’s part of who I am. I don’t try to ignore you, I just get caught up in everything else, you know.”
It took the shudder of the younger’s shoulders for her to realize that she was crying. Corruption buried her head into Depression’s shoulder, sobbing into her.
The other homunculus closed the door silently. Picking up Corruption, she walked over to the bed, as if she was to lay her own child to sleep. She placed her down in the mattress, clearing it off the extra blankets. She knew that they would only get in the way. Or at least it was rather likely. Crawling over the perfect surface of the white sheets, she propped herself up on a few of the pillows, before lifting the other girl onto her stomach.
Corruption settled right in, clinging to Depression’s cami, and struggling to calm down. When Depression held her this way, everything just seemed to be okay. No matter what had happened, everything was to be alright form here on in.
"I'm sorry that I love him, but I love you no less because of that fact," she cooed softly, "What can I do make you better? How can I make you happy?"
Corrutpion said nothing, and merely snuggled up next to Depression's neck.
"Would that make you smile?"
Corruption knew of what she spoke, this 'that' was their usual game. The competition they seemed to have to see who could love who more lavishly.
"It only makes me happy, if you'll be happy too."
Depression sent her a gentle smile, "Alright."
