Stone walls near pitfalls
In the house beside the sea
An ocean of glass
An urn of ash
Left alone to be
Shuddering sheets
Cold bodies beneath
The walls are painted in red
All is silent like the dead
Dark shadows ever creeping
Nightmares never ceasing
In the house beside the sea
Graceful willows weeping
For secrets they are keeping
Of lives silenced long ago
That only the willows know
Trembling in the silent wind
Never more to rise again
Waves crashing against the shore
Crying “from then ‘til now to ever more
Never again will they be
In the house beside the sea”
Creeks and moans in silent tones
The king has been dethroned
The death bird calls
As the last of them fall
With not a sound
They all go down
And till at last judgment has come
And they behold the Son
They will not be
Can never be
In the house beside the sea
