Prologue

“What’s going on?” Someone familiar screamed. “Fate! Help! Where are you?”

The girl screamed as the decrepit and surreal beings pounded on the door to her room. She could hear them hissing at her with their rotted vocals. They scratched and banged against the door violently. She covered her ears, trying to block out the noise.

“Fate!” The girl called again. She heard the door crack and splinter open, she tried to scream but all that came out was a pitiful shriek. She looked down when she felt something leathery around her ankle, and then she screamed. One of the creatures’ hands was wrapped around her ankle and it was pulling its body and coiling around her leg. She screamed and tried to kick it off.

A hand covered her mouth and she felt something slimy slide across her cheek. The girl was pulled down by more of the creatures until all that was heard was gurgling, moaning and the snapping of bones.

Fate woke up with tears burning her eyes and coating her skin making her sheet stick to her.

“No more!” She cried softly to her self. “No more dreams.” She let the tears fall.
