I do see
As I wake from my dreams,
To the day fresh and new,
The first thoughts to come,
Are only thoughts of you.
I can see in you, the darkness,
Of all the past and pains,
And through your words I feel,
That sorrow still remains.
A black rose I did find,
In your darkened night,
And blossom it did, as I came near,
The presence of my light.
While others pass it by,
I chose to stop and see,
Careful of the thorns I was,
Of many times, I’ve warned me.
Shrouded in the hurt,
Locked and chained away,
And though I held no key
I found it anyway.
In myself I see a darkness,
Like the one I have found in you,
Of all these mixed emotions,
I find pain and love are true.
My age may be too young,
But my soul is much too old,
My heart and mind are wise,
But I’ve not been spared the cold.
In darkness I see beauty,
In sorrow I find love,
In my view, this world’s forsaken,
Look down Angels Above.
To have you in my dreams,
And me in your thoughts each day,
These sweet visions are not enough,
Why must I see you only this way?
How much I long to love you,
And to know you care,
I want to know you see me,
And know you’ll always be there.
