Where Will I Find You?

By Crimsondrop7

Chapter 1: Captured

A glorious morning rose over the green forest. The sunshine flowed over the bedcovers, awaking a sleepy girl. She sat up, yawned, and blinked until she saw clear.

“Time for fun.” She sarcastically remarked, pulling her tired body from the warm bed.

She washed up and went to the dresser. She picked out a long, white flowing dress. As she brushed her brown hair, a memory of last night’s conversation arose in her mind.

Hey Lina! Anybody home?” The bubbly girl waved her hand in front of Lina’s face.

What!” Lina snapped her annoyed glare to bore a hole in her friend’s forehead.

Alexa, Katie, and I are going to take you boyfriend-seeking tomorrow!” She giggled with glee.

What? But—“

No buts! You daydream way too much; you need a boyfriend! You’re going whether you like it or not!”

And what makes you think you can force me too go?” Lina challenged.

We already got the okay from your mom!” Mora smiled triumphantly.

Ugh…Mom!” Lina gave a dejected sigh.

Lina tied a white satin ribbon in her hair. She couldn’t believe her mom would allow this! She could almost predict what her mom would say. Lina lost interest in mumblings unkind things under her breath. She decided to get it over with.

“Maybe…it won’t be as bad. Ah, who am I kidding? This’ll be the worst day ever!”

Lina put on her sandals and tucked her lucky necklace into her bag. She had also packed some small snacks, a book, a small notebook, and her cell phone. She opened the door and paused to affectionately pet the dog.

She arrived at the Fountain to find her friends ogling. Typical. It took them around 3 minutes to notice her standing there.

“There’s so many! I don’t know where to start!” Alexa sighed dreamily.

“How about you guys go boy-chasing and I go home!” Lina smiled and started to walk away when Mora grabbed her wrist.

“Ohh no! You’re not going anywhere! We came here for a purpose and that’s what we’re gonna do!” She stated as if giving a speech.

Lina groaned. She hated it when Mora became determined. There’s no stopping her once she reaches that stage.

“And just look at all the guys staring at you!” Katie added, nudging her in the side and winking.

They dragged Lina to the mall and dispersed to look for possible candidates. She was left to wonder whether this boy search was truly for her, or her friends. She didn’t care either way. She allowed no more thoughts on the topic. Lina walked to an empty bench.

She loved a book that drew you in. One that would whisk you away to another world and your own would disappear in the background. She took out her book and became completely immersed once she opened the page.

She didn’t feel the extra weight on the bench, nor did she hear any voices. She was absorbed to the book. She finally came out of her stupor when the book was ripped from her hands.

“Hey!” She grabbed for the book that dangled just out of her reach, “Give that back! And don’t lose the page!”

“We’re not going to get you a boyfriend if you keep sticking your nose in books all the time!” Alexa scolded.

“Better than chasing boys!” Lina countered, grabbing her book.

“GIRLS!!!” Mora cried. “We’re not going to get ANYTHING done with you two bickering! Now come on!”

The group went to the town square next. They sat down for lunch in a little café. Lina stared out the window, not looking at anything in particular. She idly picked at her food and occasionally listened to parts of the conversation. Boys, gossip, crushes, more boys…these topics didn’t interest her.

When lunch was over, the girls set out for the park. Her friends were convinced the place was crawling with boys. Lina protested, but was dragged along anyway. They dispersed and left her hanging, again. Lina walked over to a swing and took out her notebook. She scribbled in code, secretly writing a poem. She looked up for a moment, watching her friends’ spy on a decent guy riding his bike.

She went back to her notebook. She set the pen to write when a pair of hands reached from the bushes. One hand covered her mouth while the other grabbed her arms. Lina suddenly felt dizzy and tried to fight off the bizarre drowsiness that crept through her limbs. Her vision turned black and her body went limp in the stranger’s arms.

The pen and notebook flew out of her hands, a black mark blotted across the page. No other mark was left for her friends to find. They thought she grew bored and returned home. No one thought the black mark across the page meant anything. They simply closed the notebook and went home, the notebook in their arms. They’ll return it tomorrow…if they can find her.
