THE WRITING CIRCLE: LUGHNASADH POETRY CHALLENGE 2006
The Challenge
The Pagan festival of Lughnasadh occurs on August 1st (well, kinda--if you want to know all the hairy details, do a Google search). It's the first harvest festival, and was often celebrated with both athletic and poetic competitions. We thought that since many of the Editors celebrate this holiday, we would offer TWCers a chance to try some poetry! So, here are the details:
Submitted by: the Editors
Due: 1 AUG 2006
Format: A sonnet. Specifically, and English/Shakespearean sonnet, rather than an Italian/Petrarchan sonnet.
Posting is odd this month, due to various irritations, but here are the sonnets (well, at this point, just the one, though we’ll hopefully be getting more). We hope you like it/them!
About The Writing Circle
The Writing Circle is a group of writers wishing to challenge themselves through a series of monthly writing competitions. Each month one of the Editors posts a challenge with a word count and five things the story must include. The writers are then given a month to write their submission.
Sometimes we get a little crazy, and come up with Challenges like this. So please review and leave a vote for your favorite sonnet!
