It comes in flashes.
Little things.
Dashing across roads and
Jumping off of swings.
Sometimes it hurts, but
The pain is fading fast.
Learning and laughing and living
And loving things done in the past.
Momentary memories pass me by,
A little girl holding skates
And five minutes later—
Falling flat on my face.
Years long gone
I see it all
And it’s beautiful
Like a waterfall.
Climbing rocks and walls and things
I’ve fallen more times then I can count.
But each and every single one
Makes me wiser than I started out.
But that’s not what I live for
I like the hectic, crazy times,
I love the adrenaline rush,
Not your gentle wind chimes.
Uncertain moments, hesitating
Someone asks, “What’s happening?”
That’s what life is:
Intoxicating.
