Zephyr Tempest

Is this how I’m meant to live?
Isn’t there more life can give?
Preached to by a dark priest,
Words disturbing the inner beast.

Sing a rapturous song for me,
Sailing through a white sea.

Who am I to say,

What manner of beast comes forth unto the fray?

Riding a fire mare,

A black knight chases the moon.
Are we meant to care?

It’ll end soon.

Welcome to your dreams,

Sleeping through unheard screams.
Am I meant to turn a blind eye?
At lives coming apart at the seams?

People so willing to die,

People so willing to lie,

Yet they refuse to fly?

Sing a rapturous song for me,
Sailing through a white sea,

Not trapped anymore but not free,
I cannot find the key.
What song are you meant to sing,

To hail an unjust king?

Storm clouds above,
Storm clouds above,
People don’t notice,

Too blinded in their search for love.

People so willing to die,
People so willing to lie,
They refuse to see the light,
Too busy crying about the night.

Flying a few feet above the smoke,

While everybody tries to pull themselves down,
In their miseries they soak,

On their tears, they choke,
Pulling themselves down.
Forcing onto themselves a thorny crown.

Sing a rapturous song for me,
Sailing through a white sea.

It’ll just be too late,
If you drown yourself in hate,

Life’s too short, you don’t have time,

To despair the climb.

Watching raindrops on a window slide.

Run away and hide.

Not noticing storm clouds above,

Too busy mourning the death of love.

Your aching loneliness;
Just a fear of life.
Something more exists than strife,
But is it worth it all?
When it’s so much easier to fall?
Again and again I confess,

It’s pointless ignoring life’s call.

When fantasy and reality collide,

Is it possible to stand side-by-side?
Just a single soul,
Digging an endless hole,
Is it worth it? What’s the point?

Just a castle in the air,

Yet to join it we leave our souls bare.

But what if it disappoints?

Sing a rapturous song for me,
Sailing through a white sea.
All people can think of is their dead,
Or how much their heart bled,
Why can’t they look ahead?
Inanely living in the past,
Life’s too fast,
Life’s too fast.

Why spend your time waiting to die,
When you could be learning to fly?

There’s a storm around me.

Welcome to your dreams,
Sleeping through unheard screams,

Don’t turn a blind eye,
Don’t just sit and cry.

Sing a rapturous song for me,
Sailing through a white sea.

People so willing to die,
People so willing to lie,

Learn to fly.
Learn to fly.
