My Dark Goddess

She stands there all alone with a look of pure perfection,

A dark beauty she shows off to the world.

She’s leaning against a statue of an angel and a demon

Her ice blue eyes stare at me from under a scaled stone wing

And my breath catches in my throat as she looks away.

I wish she’d just say my name out-loud;

I know she’s thinking it in her head.

Come to me and hold me in your arms,

Protect me from the coming cold of winter.”

But when she calls I dare not go.

I’m sorry, my love,

But there is nothing colder in this world than your heart.”

But I’ll give you time to thaw and chip away the ice,

For I can melt the frost that remains.

Even your complexion,

Fine ivory framed by platinum hair,

Helps give way to your natural cruelty;

Nothing could hide a hate so cold as yours.

So now I’m walking towards you,

A single flower in my hand,

And I place it in your hair,

Tucked behind your ear.

Poppy red certainly matches the crimson dress you are wearing.

I’ve never seen a dress so fine,

It looks lovely on you.”

It’s tight on her chest and flares out at her waist,

Reaching just above her knees.

She’s wearing black stocking and red shoes with pointed heels,

Yet she’s still short and has to lift her chin

As I bend down to place a kiss on her nose.

Then I take a step back,

No one should look down

To a goddess in disguise.
