A vault
Can you
cover up
a secret?
If you were to describe
the feeling
that overcomes you
would
that feeling
be a tightly-capped bottle,
pressurized and anticipating
calamity?
Or would
that feeling
be a
vault
of maximum secuirty
that exists in the deep recesses of
your mind
such that you alone know of
its existence
and its means of release?
You keep
it
for so lnog and
it
eventually
consumes
you.
You long for release.
So you must
whisper to the darkness as you lie
aloneon your bed, ominous shadows flickering
outside your window
late at night or
early in the morning...
...but isn't there a
chance
someone will hear you?
So you must
write on a piece of paper and then
scratch out furiously,
ripping through the paper,
tearing shreds, before
lighting a candle...
...but you can still see
it
under infinite layers of
ink -
You must make sure every piece is
incinerated.
So you must
type up a password-protected file on your computer, or
post on an
anonymous internet blog you've
told no one about...
...but once you
input something
and click confirmation the information is
out there
and you must go to
extreme measures
to fully
format and deny
the very existence.
So you must
write a song or a poem or a story - maybe you
paint a picture so that you are supposedly the
only one who knows the
hidden meaning...
...but some interpretations come
far too close
for your liking, and the
interpreters
are a lot
smarter
than you give them credit for.
So
can you
cover up
a secret?
...yes.
Yes you can.
No one is there to hear you.
Evidence can be destroyed.
Traces permanently formatted.
Mere melodies are hummed.
Words are distorted.
Truths manipulated.
Perceptions changed...
...but
you
will be driven to some
paranoid brink of insanity as
it
eventually
consumes
you.
(I realize I keep changing my username and that won't help establish my rep but the one I've been waiting for is still taken so this is probably another temp one (Repudiator).

Notes: Yes, I decided to be very deliberate with the formatting whilst keeping it simple. I just scratched it up this morning so I hope this signifies the end of my writing hiatus because I haven't been able to do that for a long time. Who knows.
