Edge of the World

You are

The edge of the world

That unknown territory on my father’s map

Marked:

There be monsters here

You’re a cut up paper angel

In my shoebox

Tangled in his own heartstrings

Hanging limp from that tree

Like a hammock

Please don’t invite me

I’ll never be able to resist

You’re a bleeding sunset

Where the sun bruised her

Tender eyes

Because she couldn’t

Tear her gaze off of you

You’re my screaming heart

A chemist teaching me to feel

To lust and leer

And second guess my steps

You’re all my insecurities

Because you’re so much more than me

That’s what you are to me

Imagine what you are to the

thousand other eyes

In the room
